Sampoorna Prajatantra

Earth democracy is rooted in “Vasudhaiva Kutumkam”, the ancient Indian concept of the Prithvi family. As a family, all beings have equal right to livelihood through the gifts of the earth. Its three components: economy, environment and people, must be in balance to maintain stability.

“Currency in nature’s economy is not money, it is life.”

Principles of Earth Democracy:

1. Ecological Democracy – Democracy of all life:

We are all members of the Earth community. It is the duty of all of us to protect the rights and welfare of all species and all people. No human has the right to encroach on the ecological space of other species and other people or to treat them with cruelty and violence.

2. The intrinsic value of all species and people:

All species, humans and cultures have intrinsic value. They are subjects, not objects of manipulation or ownership.

3. Earth Economy is based on Economic Democracy and Living Economy:

Earth democracy is based on economic democracy. Economic systems in Earth Democracy protect ecosystems and their integrity, they protect people’s livelihoods and provide basic needs to all. There are no disposable or dispensable species or people in the Earth’s economy. Earth’s economy is a living economy. It is based on sustainable, diverse, pluralistic systems that protect nature and people, chosen by the people for the benefit of the common good.

4. Balancing Rights with Responsibility:

In an earth democracy, rights are responsibly received and balanced. Those who suffer the consequences of decisions and actions are the decision makers.

5. Globalization Peace, Care and Compassion:

Earth democracy adds people to the realm of care, cooperation and compassion rather than dividing it through competition and conflict. Earth democracy globalizes compassion, not greed, and peace, not war.

Speciesism, like racism, imperils humanity and the planet

Speciesism places Homo sapiens at the top of a hierarchy that is often used to justify sacrificing other animals, plants, fungi and microbes for the benefit of humanity. A different perspective is needed to ensure the survival of Earth’s ecosystem and ultimately humans themselves.

With the world’s population topping 8 billion, it’s clear that humans have achieved a unique status in Earth’s history. We are the only creature that dominate all other organisms on the planet, from animals and fungi to plants and microbes.

It remains to be seen whether humans can retain this dominance as we push the global climate to extremes while driving to extinction the very organisms that we climbed over to get to the top.

In a new book, a group of scientists and philosophers places part of the blame on an attitude prevalent among scientists and the general public — the false belief that species are uniquely real, and that some species are superior to others.

To the researchers, this is analogous to racism — the fallacious belief that races exist as branches on the tree of life, and that some races are superior to others. “People these days are very conscious of how evil it is for one group of people to think that they’re superior to another race, and yet the same people who are very woke about that are perfectly happy to say, well, humans are in charge of everything, so the rest of the world is ours to use as we see fit.”

“The two precepts — that species are uniquely real and that one or more are superior to others — cascade into how humans see themselves and how we behave on this planet,”

“Our cultural and biological manifestations flow from this worldview and snowball to affect how we interact with other forms of life, the physical world and other people.”

In the new book, Swartz, Mishler and nine other contributors argue that speciesism — the belief that species are real and that humans are the superior species — “leads to behavior that challenges our future on this planet.”

They instead urge humans to remove themselves from their pedestal and treat all creatures as they would members of the human family by valuing and protecting their lives and habitats.

it’s like we’re a huge, diverse family living in the same house, which is Earth, and we need to get along. Not just the human family. We’re talking about everything — plants, animals and bacteria. What one does stresses another.

“We’re not arguing that humans are not important. We’re just saying they’re only one of many of the life forms at the tips of the tree of life.” Humans are just one part of a genealogy connecting all living things. This interconnectedness forms an ecological web that sustains the planet and us, and that deserves to be protected equally with humans.

“Every living thing is related to every other living thing. The only issue is: How far back do you have to go until you hit a common ancestor?” Mishler said. “Humans are certainly important, but we’re just one of millions of these lineages, all of which have equal importance.”

Mishler goes one step further, arguing that lineages should be respected — not for how they can benefit humans, but intrinsically, as part of the web of life. He detests the term “ecosystem services,” which implies that the natural world exists to service humanity. “Healthy ecosystems benefit everybody, from humans to any other lineage connected to them”. “Humanity is at an inflection point with its growth and technology curves, and we are reinventing agriculture at the cellular level. The implication is that we will soon be able to grow food for the masses in environmental, ethical and culturally appropriate ways that will turn the horrors of factory farming into the days of yesteryear,” Swartz said. “This obviously makes vegans happy, but stepping beyond the ideology, it also makes happy the researchers, entrepreneurs and policy experts who are looking to manage global issues like climate change, food security, the future of energy and the future of humanity itself.”

The authors are not expecting to change engrained attitudes overnight, but they hope to make people think about the implications of speciesism for the planet, not just for humanity. if we take a broader view of family, where all of life is our family, then how do we deal with that? We’ve still got to live. We’ve still got to eat. But can we be more mindful of everybody else, all of our relatives, and try to do it in such a way that it doesn’t destroy what our relatives need to do to make their living.

So to set up an ideal Sampurna Prajatantra it becomes necessary to constitute —

“All Living Beings Rights Commission” to Govern the Rights & Limits of all living Beings for the Peaceful Coexistence of All Living Species on the Earth and for the Welfare of All Living Beings.

Secularism

Secularism is the principle of conducting human affairs on the basis of secular, naturalistic considerations. It is usually defined as the separation of religion from civil affairs and the state, and can be extended to a similar situation relating to the need to remove or reduce the role of religion in any public sphere. The term has a wide range of meanings, and in the most schematic, can encompass any stance promoting secularism in any context. This may indicate anticlericalism, atheism, naturalism, or the removal of religious symbols from public institutions.

4. “Balance of Nature” and “Population Control”

•Overpopulation is a major cause of most of the world’s problems. Whether it is a lack of food, a lack of drinking water or a lack of energy, every country in the world is affected by it – or will be. Partly thanks to the import of goods from abroad, a particular country is able to maintain its welfare. But it cannot run infinitely. In fact, the number of residents is increasing in every country. The world’s population is at risk of increasing to 8 or 10 billion in the next few decades. There is a good chance that more and more countries will need their own products themselves. Our planet can offer a quality of life comparable to that enjoyed in the European Union to no more than 2 billion people. With a population of 8 to 10 billion, welfare per person on a world scale will drop to that of a poor farmer who can scarcely provide sufficient food for himself and knows nothing of welfare. And thus we will have to share everything fairly in order to avoid disputes or war.

•The climate is changing – and it matters little whether human activity or changes in the solar system are to blame. The disappearance of a large portion of valuable agricultural land would require only slightly raising sea levels. We currently think we can stay ahead of famine through the use of artificial fertilizers, inhumane breeding of animals, and other survival strategies.

•Technicians are very happy to simply point you to the technology that has the solution to all our problems. Unfortunately technological solutions have not yet been able to tackle world hunger in any significant way. Where there is no recognition or solution to the problems globally, war and violence will seem inevitable: everyone wants to survive. Human beings have a tendency to seek maximum welfare. The number of cars and refrigerators around the world is increasing before our eyes. But there will come a time when population growth and welfare will collide. There is a reasonably good chance that an influx of people will trek all over the world in search of more food and welfare.

Impacts of Overpopulation on the Environment: Video: Click Here

•Hence it becomes necessary to make some Hard & Fast Rules to overcome this problem of Overpopulation e.g.——

•The Minimum age of the Marriage should be at least 25 Years for all person & the Registration of  Marriage should be mandatory for All.

•Only single marriage should be allowed for all person. Re-marriage should not be allowed except Divorced/Widowed person.

•Anything Free or discounts (Waiver) Scheme e.g. Ration, Health & Education, Insurance, Electricity & Water etc. offered by the Govt. should be for the Financially weaker People of all the Cast & Religion.

(Maximum up to One Child Only along with Parents & Grand Parents).

•If any Person/Institution adopts & Nurture any Orphan Child, Some pension & Free Education should be given by the Govt. to Nurture the Orphan Child and Free Health Insurance should also be provided by the Govt. to the Orphan Child along with the person who adopts & Nurture the Orphan Child.

•But if any couple gives birth to Two Children (Except Twins), then those parents should be discarded  from all Govt. Services & Facilities, free Schemes etc. Further more upon giving birth to a 3rd child, the name of those parents should be removed from the Voter List Permanently & their Voter Card Should be Rejected. Upon giving birth to a 4th child, both the Couples should be ordered through the court to get sterilized permanently so that they can’t give birth to more children in the future.

•To Control the Population of all the Non-Human Animals, First of all the Livestock Farming should be totally banned and some Scientific Methods & Techniques may be adopted to control the Population of all Non Human Animals.

The population of all Humans & Non Human Animals should be controlled to the extent so that there should be available the sufficient resources for the survival of all living beings on the earth.
